the whisper
months ago, spirit dropped one word in my ear:
senegal.
i held that word in my body for months. then, finally, she appeared: an invitation to join a small circle of women on a sacred journey through senegal. together we'll live, eat, drum, dance + heal on the land. we'll stand in the dungeons where my enslaved ancestors were kept, and move in ceremony on the land that remembers them.
for 17 years, i wore an nypd badge, holding other people's hardest days. then i chose myself. i took off the uniform and picked up my medicine.
i'm an energetic medicine woman, an ancestor portal + a spiritual medium. here's what that means:
- medicine woman
- a woman who carries healing in her hands, her voice + her body. through movement, sound, energy + ritual, she holds space for people to come back home to their bodies and their own power.
- ancestor portal
- one whose body is a doorway between the living and the lineage. ancestral memory, grief + wisdom move through her, so what was buried can be honored, released + brought home.
- spiritual medium
- one who receives messages from spirit + the ancestors and translates them into grounded guidance for the living.
my medicine is movement: hula hoop, dance, rhythm, play + ritual.
i'm bringing my medicine to the land where our ancestors were held in chains. i'll move for the ones who couldn't. through the womb, through the hips, through the breath, the lineage remembers its freedom. what they carried in silence, we release in ceremony. what they survived, we heal.
